FSC Introduces New Charcoal Transaction Verification

The charcoal transaction verification will cover all FSC claims made for charcoal wood products during the entire year 2019. The deadline for certificate holders to submit requested transaction verification data is 15 September 2020.

Certificate holders having charcoal wood in their certificate scope are required to participate. Their certification body will notify them directly by 15 August 2020 and provide further details on requirements.

FSC and its accreditation body Assurance Services International (ASI) have been conducting transaction verification on supply chains since 2017. This action is a response to allegations of false claims within the FSC supply chains. False claims consist in selling a product that is not eligible to be sold as FSC certified with FSC claims on its sales documents.
