Second Public Consultation of the Ecosystem Services Procedure open FSC / Mayank Bhavesh Soni FSC / Mayank Bhavesh Soni April 10, 2024 Category : General news FSC-PRO-30-006 Ecosystem Services Procedure sets out the requirements for managers of FSC-certified forests to demonstrate the impact of their activities on the maintenance or enhancement of ecosystem services and improves their access to ecosystem services markets. FSC invites you to participate in the second public consultation of the revised draft procedure from 10 April – 9 June 2024 via the FSC Consultation Platform. Based on feedback received from the last public consultation, FSC and the technical working group have updated the draft procedure. Key topics in the latest Draft 2-0 of the procedure include: Preconditions and additional safeguards for forest managers and sponsors Parts and sections in Draft 2-0 clearly specify the relevant actor(s) Improved terms and definitions Revised ecosystem services (ES) impacts and the new ES category: Air quality Clear distinction between verified ES impacts and ES claims Clear distinction between storytelling and performance approaches More robust impact demonstration requirements Expanded revenue sharing mechanism Improved requirements for the promotion of verified ES impacts Clearer requirements for FM groups Improved requirements for certification bodies To learn more about the key topics read the overview here.
