FSC has published the revised FSC Trademark Use Guide for Promotional Licence Holders on 1June 2026, including updated requirements for how retailers and brands communicate about the FSC-certified products they sell or use.

What’s new?

The revised guide improves clarity and consistency in the use of FSC trademarks, while making it easier for organizations to communicate in an accurate and credible way. It also supports alignment with emerging anti-greenwashing regulations.

Key updates include:

  • updated requirements for the mandatory elements when promoting with the FSC trademarks
  • greater flexibility in graphic design
  • a more streamlined verification and approval process
  • practical guidance for using trademarks across different channels and materials
  • expanded examples to help organisations leverage their promotional licence
  • retirement of the ‘Forests For All Forever’ mark and the FSC promotional panel design
  • additional ready-to-use promotional statements about FSC and FSC-certified products.

Timelines

The revised requirements apply to all new promotional materials created from 1 June 2026 onwards.

For existing materials, promotional licence holders have until 1 September 2026 to make the required adjustments and align with the new requirements.

Support for implementation

To support promotional licence holders, FSC is hosting a series of webinars providing an overview of the changes and practical guidance on applying the new requirements. Supporting resources are also available to download from the FSC Brand Hub.
