Regional Director for Latin America

Helena Pavese is FSC’s Regional Director for Latin America, bringing more than 20 years of experience across the region and internationally, with a long-standing commitment to conservation, biodiversity and sustainable development.

Trained in biological sciences, environment and development, and international environmental diplomacy, Helena has built her career at the intersection of nature, policy, markets and sustainable development. She has worked with international organizations, the United Nations system and civil society, including UNEP-WCMC and Conservation International.

Her experience also includes nature finance, responsible land use and engagement with the private sector, including roles as an advisor to Business for Nature and in senior sustainability at Suzano. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, Helena brings a strong understanding of the ecological, social and economic realities shaping Latin America’s forests and the partnerships needed to protect them
