Aligned with FSC’s most recent Risk Assessment Framework (FSC-PRO-60-006b), the revised Risk Assessment for Romania becomes effective on 28 August 2025.

The FSC Risk Assessment for Romania (FSC-RA-ROU-02-2025, abbreviated RA Romania) marks a significant milestone in the evolution of FSC Risk Assessments. This is the first revision to transition from the former PSU-PRO-10-002 V1-0 EN basis to the updated FSC-PRO-60-006b, ensuring alignment with the latest FSC policies and international requirements, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Developed over a period of 12 months, the revised Risk Assessment reflects a centralized approach, enriched by consultation with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Input came from forestry practitioners, industry experts, environmental specialists, and academic researchers, with valuable support from FSC Romania.

The scope of the assessment covers all products derived from all types of forests and trees, with the exception of reclaimed material.

Importantly, this milestone introduces a new approach to sharing FSC Risk Assessments: from now on, they will be available not only in the FSC Document Centre, but also on the newly launched FSC Risk Hub platform—making access more streamlined and user-friendly.

Key highlights of this new phase include:

  • FSC Risk Assessment Framework

The FSC-PRO-60-006b FSC Risk Assessment Framework provides a comprehensive tool for companies to assess and mitigate risks of sourcing forest materials.

With 64 indicators for assessing risks connected to relevant social and environmental aspects, FSC’s Risk Assessment Framework is aligned with EUDR regulatory requirements to ensure responsible sourcing. The next generation of FSC’s existing risk assessments for controlled wood sourcing will be based on this updated framework and valid for both Regulatory Module users and Controlled Wood users.

Learn more about how these requirements were developed in the process page here.

  • Risk Hub Platform

FSC’s risk assessments will now be available on the new Risk Hub platform, which offers an interactive and transparent experience. Stakeholders can easily explore, compare, and filter indicators across different countries.

  • Annual Revision

In line with FSC-PRO-60-006b FSC Risk Assessment Framework, FSC will review stakeholder feedback annually to ensure risk assessments remain current and relevant—especially regarding legislation, risk designations, and mitigation measures. We invite all stakeholders and experts to share their input continuously. Please visit the Risk Hub platform to leave your feedback on the content of the risk assessment.
