The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) remains deeply concerned about the deteriorating condition of workers and trade union rights in Myanmar since February 2021. FSC urges all its certificate holders (CHs) and certification bodies in Myanmar to support FSC’s mandate to respect human rights and the right to free collective bargaining as provided within the International Labour Organization (ILO) charter. This is in line with the requirements stated in the FSC Chain of Custody standard.

At their 96th Board Meeting, the FSC International Board of Directors mandated FSC International to send letters to all the FSC-certified CHs in Myanmar recording FSC’s concern about the situation in Myanmar and insisting that CHs respect human rights and the right to free collective bargaining.
