FSC has identified a key implementation challenge in the accreditation process for chain of custody (CoC) certification. Although FSC-STD-20-001 requires all accredited certification bodies to include controlled wood as a mandatory part of their CoC scope, current practices by Assurance Services International (ASI) allow exclusions. To resolve this discrepancy, FSC is developing a new Advice Note through an accelerated process under FSC-PRO-01-001. This Advice Note will set clear minimum requirements so that all certification bodies include controlled wood in their CoC accreditation. FSC invites all affected stakeholders to provide input.
