Italian fashion has always been a symbol of elegance, creativity, and craftsmanship – and a sector that contributes significantly to the country's economy. However, behind the iconic luxury and prestige lie significant challenges related to the economic and environmental impact of this industry. 'La foresta in un abito’ (‘Forest in a dress’) contest was launched in early 2025 to raise awareness of the responsible use of forest resources in fashion and the contribution of FSC certification to ensure sustainable supply chains for raw materials such as cellulose-based fabrics, wood, rubber, and cork.

The final result was a collection of three garments, consisting of the winning designs from young designers Chiara Bisaccia, Jonathan Evangelista, and Chiara Maria Fabbrizzi. This first Italian capsule collection, officially presented on 23 June 2025 during Milan Fashion Week, received FSC project certification (FSC-P002193), which certifies the one-off, non-industrial use of products from responsible forest management, which certifies the one-off, non-industrial use of products from responsible forest management. ’s ‘Maspillo’ project, who participated in the contest as a non-competitor. The young designers handcrafted their designs at Colori Vivi during a two-day workshop, using FSC-certified fabrics provided by Colombo Industrie Tessili and wood finishes. After verifying sales invoices and FSC-certified materials transfer, the accredited auditors of FSC Chain of Custody issued an FSC project certification.

“It is crucial that fashion moves towards sustainable production, adopting renewable raw materials from responsibly managed forests,” commented Chiara Colombi, jury president and professor at the Design Department of Politecnico di Milano. “The projects presented clearly demonstrate the potential of design to deliver solutions that combine contemporary aesthetics with materials' sustainability.”
