Chief Engagement Officer

Marc Jessel is FSC International’s Managing Director/Chief Engagement Officer (CENGO). Based in Bonn, he leads FSC’s externally facing engagement functions, including government relations, advocacy, and communications, and oversees collaboration with FSC Investment and Partnerships and the FSC Indigenous Foundation.

Marc joined FSC in 2021 as Chief System Integrity Officer within the System Integrity Unit, where he led the development and implementation of FSC’s Policy for Association and Remedy Frameworks, strengthened relationships with certifying bodies, and drove innovations in FSC’s integrity toolkit to enhance supply chain integrity.

With a career spanning the public, private, and NGO sectors, Marc has lived and worked in 12 countries across five regions. Before joining FSC, he held a global role at a major certifying body developing sustainability solutions for governments, and spent a decade as Country Director with the UK’s cultural relations agency, the British Council. He holds a degree in languages and politics as well as a master’s in social policy and planning in developing countries from the London School of Economics.
