Policy and Performance Director

Joanna is a forester with extensive experience in forestry, standard setting and leadership. She persistently drives change and efficiency.

She holds a PhD in Forestry and has completed post-graduate studies in GIS. Throughout her academic journey, she has received numerous educational awards and enjoys deep dives into subject matter topics. Before joining FSC, she worked in both field and office forest management, including implementing GIS solutions at the forest management unit level. Prior to her role at FSC International, she worked for an FSC National Office, leading efforts on forest management and controlled wood aspects.

Since joining the team in Bonn in 2013, Joanna has led numerous standard-setting processes and developed FSC’s strategy for mass balance (FSC Mix, Controlled Wood) while managing a multicultural team. Following the completion of the Controlled Wood strategy, she established the data and analytics team, introducing innovative tools and advancing monitoring and evaluation practices. She brought her technology and innovation expertise back to standard setting when she was appointed to co-lead the current Policy and Performance Unit, eventually stepping into the Unit Director role a few years later.
