FSC has received one of the 2019 'INTA Members for a Better Society Awards'. The awards are given to INTA members who “have demonstrated during the year how brands positively impact society and build consumer trust through initiatives relating to corporate social responsibility, diversity and inclusion, and/or pro bono legal services”. In its press release announcing the awards, INTA has stated: “The original pioneer of forest certification, … the Forest Stewardship Council … has set the bar globally in terms of sustainable forest management and responsible forestry product and paper use. FSC has become a household name among corporations working to reduce their environmental impact by using FSC certified products. FSC also owns certification marks around the world, creating a synergy between IP [intellectual property] and sustainability.” Through its work to support trademarks and related intellectual property, INTA aims to foster consumer trust, economic growth, and innovation. INTA members - including FSC - get updates on new developments from intellectual property specialists from all around the world while expanding their network. As a not-for-profit association, INTA’s role is to serve its members and society as a trusted and influential advocate for the economic and social value of brands. INTA’s members are more than 7,200 organizations from currently 187 countries.
