Do one thing for forests

Acting for our forests is good for the climate and helps safeguard biodiversity. Our actions can be small, and they can have an impact even if we’re far away from a forest. Let’s find, do, and share our one thing for the forests.

One thing can make a difference

When forests thrive, our planet and its people prosper. Together, we must take the small steps that collectively deliver large impact for generations to come.
Climate Change

Fight climate change

In the fight against climate change, every forest counts. During FSC Forest Week, we share the benefits of sustainably forestry, and forests’ unique ability to capture and store carbon dioxide—one of the greenhouse gases that contribute the most to climate change.

Safeguard Biodiversity

Safeguard biodiversity

Forests are home to two-thirds of the Earth’s plants and wildlife, protecting the biodiversity needed to sustain our lives on Earth. FSC Forest Week amplifies this crucial role and our collective task to combat biodiversity loss, and the benefits nature provides to all of us.

Find your one thing for our forests

As an individual

There are many things we can do to help protect forests and spread the word about sustainable forestry. You don’t have to live close to a forest to make an impact.
Decision making

Decide whether you need something new

Before buying new, consider secondhand options, trading platforms, and flea markets. Make, fix, or refurbish things yourself, or find a local handyman or tailor. This goes for clothes, furniture, toys, appliances, and more.

tree

New is good, just check for the tree

Our logo is on millions of everyday products, from furniture and paper to sports equipment and tyres. It verifies sustainable sourcing that puts forests and people first. By choosing FSC- certified products, you reduce the pressure put on our natural resources and support responsible forestry.

certified

Buy certified non-forest commodities

Palm oil and cacao production also contribute greatly to deforestation. When shopping for food, look out for labels that certify these ingredients independently.

plant based

Consider a more plant-based diet

One of the major causes of deforestation is when forests are converted to produce beef. One study found that reducing beef consumption by 20 per cent could halve deforestation in the next 30 years. That’s only six meat-free days a month!

silence

Silence your phone and get outside

The apps on our phones are consuming our time and money. By spending this time outside (in nature if you can), you’ll not only shop less, which will reduce your environmental footprint, but you’ll find a renewed appreciation for nature.

search engine

Switch your search engine

Ecosia is a climate-friendly search engine and browser, producing more solar energy than what is needed to power each search, and contributing 100% of their profits to reforestation efforts.

plant based

Join or support local reforestation initiatives

Tree planting activations are gaining ground around the world. If you can’t find one that is accessible to you, many local retailers support initiatives such as 1% For the Planet, donating a portion of their profit to approved environmental projects.

Your voice matters. By engaging with FSC Forest Week using the hashtag #FSCForestWeek on all social platforms, you raise awareness and inspire sustainable actions that positively impact our planet.
