We are looking for an engaged IT Security Engineer (m/f/d), who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

The Scope

The IT Security Engineer will provide a customer-focused service, support the corporate Information Security functions and platforms to FSC users across the world and associated third parties. The position holder will diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and support where required.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supports the information security functions, participates in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits.
  • Supports the implementation, monitoring, improvement, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., with Git Actions) for automated continuous integration, verification, and approval.
  • Monitors all in-place SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management) solutions for efficient, appropriate operation and resolution of security incidents.
  • Provides first contact support of incoming requests to the service desk via telephone, email, and chat to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues.
  • Performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level when remote tools are not appropriate, including hardware repairs, delivery of peripherals, or other fixes as required.
  • Supports and administers network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Sources) appliances.
  • Supports and administers IT Infrastructure Systems e.g., Hyper-V, VMware, Phone System (PBX), Cloud-based Services.
  • Ensures maintenance of the IT assets database for all IT hardware and/or software in accordance with organization policy and procedures.
  • Performs administration of Windows and Linux server systems.
  • Additional tasks as agreed with the formal supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

You are passionate about FSC’s mission and digital innovation technologies. You are a fast learner and stay abreast of emerging technologies, eager to support the R&D, validation, and measurements of emerging technologies. You are eager to share knowledge and establish tight, efficient communications across the team and organization. You solve problems, have a solid and strong analytic capability, and take decisions based on facts, as well as trial and error. Making mistakes does not daunt or deter you, and you know how to integrate learning from mistakes and changing direction when needed.

 

  • Education and Training:
    • A university degree in Mathematical, Statistical and/or Computer Sciences, or suitable IT-related field.
    • Certification in ITIL/Microsoft Technologies/ CompTIA Security+ is a plus.
  • Working Experience, Style and Skills:
    • 2-3 years’ relevant experience in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).Solution, continuous delivery/continuous deployment CI/CD Platforms, On-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure and services.
    • Good understanding of Server & desktop hardware/operating systems, networks, firewalls, and Phone System, etc.
    • A probing and analytical approach with the ability to pre-empt potential problems and identify inefficiencies.
    • Ability to priorities and allocate effort appropriately.
    • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Proactive team player.
    • Keen attention to detail.

 

  • Computer Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:
    • Strong demonstration with hands-on experience with Microsoft Office 365, Azure Cloud Services and Virtualization technologies.
    • Familiarity with Software development life cycle methodologies.
    • Ability to conduct research into IT security issues and products as required.
    • Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols.
    • Good understanding of PowerShell scripting (Desirable).

 

  • Language and Communication Skills:
    • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
    • German is a plus.
    • Customer service oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to convey information clearly to users and grasp perceived difficulties.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible).
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
