We are looking for an engaged Communications Manager, System Integrity who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.

The Scope

The Communications Manager, System Integrity is responsible for strategizing and implementing all communications concerning FSC’s integrity with stakeholders in a targeted, proactive manner.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned communications professional to independently manage the communications needs of the System Integrity Team. This includes: 

  • To develop and implement an annual communications plan for the System Integrity Team, aligned with FSC’s global communications strategy, and in consultation with FSC’s global Communications Director. 

  • To develop and maintain a systematic public communication and stakeholder engagement plan for supply chain integrity, policy for association and complaint cases.

  • To develop and implement communication and stakeholder engagement plans to support various policy and procedure development processes. 

  • To monitor and analyze media and selected public sphere concerning general integrity and case related publications and discussions. 

  • To identify communication needs and opportunities to support FSC’s integrity work and reputation.  

  • To work closely with the Chief System Integrity Officer and programs of the Integrity Team and provide strategic guidance to reaching and engaging key audiences. 

  • To write and disseminate media releases, articles, editorials, and other communications materials. 

  • To respond to public and stakeholder enquiries concerning the integrity cases.  

  • To develop and maintain content for websites, social media, corporate communications material, and any other agreed channel on an ongoing basis. 

  • To develop and update printed or digital materials, such as brochures and fact sheets. 

  • To provide communications support to selected meetings and events. 

  • To work with colleagues in the Communications Unit on selected activities related to storytelling and media outreach. 

  • Additional tasks for System Integrity and/ or for the wider Technology and Information Unit as agreed with the Chief System Integrity Officer. 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

The successful candidate demonstrates the following key competencies and qualities: 

Education and Training: 

  • University (Bachelor or Master) degree in a relevant field (e.g. Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations). 

Working Experience, Style and Skills: 

  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in communications work related to the roles and responsibilities of this position, on global basis with at least 2 years in a management position. 

  • Good time management skills: Ability to perform well while handling a number of functions simultaneously. 

  • Ability to work in a team and independently and deliver a communications plan and its implementation on time and on budget. 

  • Ability to function in a high-pressure environment. 

  • Solution- and service-oriented attitude to work. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Good understanding of the global key elements and strategies in integrity based reputation management. 


  • Mother tongue fluency in English (spoken and written). 

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French would be a plus. 

Computer Skills: 

  • Excellent skills in the use of standard software packages (e.g., MS Office). 

Communication Skills: 

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, including copy writing and media release writing. 

  • Ability to deliver engaging messaging to specific target groups. 

  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple projects. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations. 


  • Ability to work well as a member of a multi-cultural, inter-disciplinary, multi-lingual, global team. 

  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values. 

  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC programme by stakeholders around the world. 

  • Basic understanding of the scope of FSC’s programmes and activities. 

  • Ability to represent FSC through their work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct. 

  • Willingness to do what is needed to get the job done, whether it be menial tasks or engaging in high level strategy. 

Terms and Conditions

• Location: Bonn, Germany

• Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) 

• Starting Date: as soon as possible 

• Duration of Employment: 2 years contract 

• Travel: Sporadic travel is required
