Yayasan Auriga Nusantara filed a Policy for Association complaint against PT. Bukit Muria Jaya alleging unacceptable activity ‘Significant conversion of forests to plantations or non-forest use’ by PT. Fajar Surya Swadaya and PT. Silva Rimba Lestari. PT. Bukit Muria Jaya, an FSC certificate holder, is owned by the same majority shareholders with PT Fajar Surya Swadaya and PT Silva Rimba Lestari of the Djarum Group and as such, the situation is considered as indirect involvement defined in Policy for Association.

FSC has accepted the complaint but will defer proceeding with an independent complaint evaluation until further notice due to the resource and travel restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.

In the meantime, FSC will continue communications with the companies to encourage them to suspend natural forest clearance until completion of the complaint evaluation.
