Your Role

Provide frontline support: Serve as the first point of contact for organizations seeking assistance especially with FSC EUDR solutions, promptly addressing inquiries, and internally assigning as well as resolving issues to ensure smooth operations.
Guide clients: Offer comprehensive guidance to organizations on the implementation and utilization of FSC EUDR solutions, ensuring they effectively leverage our resources to meet their EUDR compliance goals.
Ensure customer satisfaction: Engage with organizations participating in our EUDR Early Adopter Onboarding Program to understand their needs and concerns, taking proactive steps to enhance their experience and maximize satisfaction from participation.
Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams within FSC to get trained and subsequently train, relay client feedback, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our solutions and services.

Your Profile

Currently enrolled at a University in the Bonn area with eligibility to work in Germany.
At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in customer service or related fields.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic to foster positive relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and overall experience with our services.
Training or familiarity with FSC certification or other certification schemes is beneficial, indicating a foundational understanding of sustainability principles and certification processes.
An analytical and structured approach to problem-solving, enabling the candidate to effectively assess challenges and develop solutions.
A fast learning curve and interest in learning about FSC solutions, both technology as well as standards.
A solution- and service-oriented attitude towards work, with a commitment to meeting client needs and delivering high-quality support and assistance.
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision.

Terms and Conditions

Start date: As soon as possible.
Working hours: 20 hours per week (ideally across 3- 5 days per week).
Duration: 6 or 12 months, with an opportunity to extend.

The Role and what we are looking for in you

You support the FSC standards setting and their subsequent roll out implementation in the Asia-Pacific region, reporting to the FSC Asia-Pacific Regional Director and coordinating with the FSC Performance and Standards Unit at FSC International.
You further act as coordinator for various international program activities in Asia-Pacific and represent the interests of the FSC Performance and Standards Unit in the region.
You can work fluently across cultures and countries in the region, and with a diverse set of stakeholders and interest groups. You support and guide FSC network partners, country representatives and standard developers to achieve high-quality outputs and improved efficiency of relevant standard setting processes. You see yourself as a resource person and problem solver for others. You look for pragmatic solutions that support colleagues across the regional network in their various policy endeavors.
You go the extra mile to include others in your work and you build a strong personal internal network across hierarchies and functions.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

Provide process and content advice (including trainings) to those developing FSC Risk Assessments and Forest Stewardship Standards as needed and agreed with FSC IC, referred further as “country requirements”.
Perform thorough content assessment of selected, assigned country requirements against international criteria for rigor and the level of allowed country adaptation.
Monitor the status of the assigned country requirements processes in the region and provide report FSC IC and FSC APAC team.
Analyze and facilitate enquiries from stakeholders related to Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood.
Provide applicable support for ongoing revisions of FSC international requirements.
Maintain close communication with stakeholders in the region to communicate changes in FSC normative requirements.
Guide Network Partners, Country Representatives, Standard Developers, and Stakeholders on matters related to policy and standards and FSC Certifications, including developing draft interpretation on approved country requirements.
Participate in FSC internal competence and accreditation program.
Participate in regional public events to brand FSC system.
Other duties assigned by the APAC regional Director and coordinated with Country Requirements Programme in Performance and Standards Unit, FSC International.
Make sure your activities are aligned with the other Policy Manager in APAC and Regional Manager (Latin America and Africa).
Act as a backup for the other APAC Policy Manager when and where required.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Education and Training:
- Master’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Wood Sciences, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or relevant disciplines.

Working Experience, Style and Skills:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Forest Management, Forest Certification, Natural Resource Management, Standard Development.
- Experience in Chain of Custody area is a plus.

Benchmark FSC requirements and concepts against official regulations, other relevant certification schemes, and third-party initiatives to ensure they remain state-of-the-art.
Analyze and advise on risks and opportunities resulting from new concepts and mechanisms being considered for incorporation into the FSC normative framework.
Provide technical expertise for the regular development, review and revision of FSC certification and accreditation requirements, for example:
- development of zero drafts as starting points for relevant working group discussions;
- advice on and interpretations of normative requirements and their intent, to ensure awareness and the consistent implementation of FSC requirements by relevant users (certification bodies, certificate holders, Assurance Services International (ASI), Network Partners, and others);
- analysis of stakeholder comments as part of consultations or ongoing inputs.
- provision of feasibility, impact and risk analyses of drafts prior to their consultation as well as prior to their submission for approval.
Draft, conceptualize, and review training modules and other competence development measures in forest management certification.

Represent FSC externally in technical and other fora (e.g., on ISO committees or EU policies).

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Education and Training:

A university/ technical college degree in forestry or equivalent, post-graduate or doctoral degree is an asset.

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

At least 10 years of professional experience in one or more of these; the forest sector, multi-stakeholder standard development processes, conservation management and corporate environmental responsibility programs.
Substantive knowledge and extensive experience related to forest management.

The Mission

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

Education and Training: University/technical college degree or equivalent training or experience in a field of auditing, forensics, law, political sciences, accounting, international trade, forestry or other relevant specialization.

- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience related to the roles and responsibilities of this position
- Auditing, quality assurance or forensic investigation experience is an asset

The Mission

The Scope

To lead the development, maintenance, and consistent implementation of the FSC normative framework in Chain of Custody (CoC) in line with the applicable FSC rules and procedures, and coordination effectively with PSU programmes and other units.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

Exercise state-of-the-art leadership in the spirit of the FSC Leadership Principles and enable team members to deliver a high level of performance by providing them with appropriate structure, direction, and regular feedback.
Plan, initiate, coordinate, oversee, and steer as necessary – based on applicable FSC rules and procedures -- processes for the development, maintenance, review, revision, and interpretation of:
- normative documents for certification and accreditation in Chain of Custody,
- related communication, guidance, and training materials for users (certificate holders and certification bodies) and relevant stakeholders.
Work closely with the Senior Expert CoC in:
- streamlining the relevant normative documents and requirements through means of simplification, outcome orientation, and integration of risk-based approaches,
- identifying and evaluating innovative approaches for their potential of being adopted in the CoC normative framework through testing, desk reviews, and external studies,
- ensuring a high level of technical quality of normative documents and other publications.
Collaborate with PSU Engagement in the development and implementation of engagement plans for major processes.
Identify the need for, and ensure the implementation of, timely and adequate interventions to prevent delays and standstills in ongoing processes.
Coordinate and oversee the support for implementing relevant requirements by certificate holders and certification bodies.
Establish and implement effective and outcome-oriented work plans based on considerate annual budgets and in line with organizational strategies and priorities.
Adhere to PSU operational procedures and follow established practices, such as agile work planning, reporting on office presence, etc.
Support fundraising and reporting to donors as applicable.
Perform additional project work and additional tasks as assigned for special business needs and agreed with the formal supervisor.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Education and Training:
- University / technical college degree in forestry / wood technology or other relevant areas or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.

The Network Development Manager is part of the European Regional Team and supports operational management and strategic development within the region. They oversee and support country level projects while leading projects of their own. They contribute to developing FSC in Europe through close collaboration with country based FSC Network Partners, National Representatives and various FSC stakeholders. They will develop FSC presence in countries with no FSC representation and subsequently support newly established offices. In addition, they support the region on strategic projects, market opportunities, operational and governance topics.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee and monitor regional strategic projects, providing guidance to project leads on project governance and management and act as a sounding board to keep projects on track ability to course correcting when required.
Keep on top of regional trends, report impact on FSC’s development and propose opportunities to support regional performance.
Provide support to national teams on operational, strategic or governance related topics.
Guide FSC members on network development opportunities in the region.
Cultivate collaboration between country-based network partners and national representatives with the FSC International Headquarters.
Execution and support of cross-departmental coordination and alignment for the introduction and consistent implementation of project roll out in the region.
Oversee outsourced work in European countries with no FSC representation.
Coordinate and support agenda setting and logistics of regional meetings to enable collaboration amongst the FSC national teams and regional team.
Coordinate input from the region to relevant global FSC developments
Work with central teams on regional priority setting for FSC trademark development opportunities.
Collaborate with the European Regional Network on key account management and support global key account management internationally.
Support implementation of global priorities in the region.
Lead regional projects.
Provide oversight support to projects operating at a country level.
Ad hoc travel with region for FSC related meetings, remote work, and project management.
Preparation of management documents for decision making and reporting
Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.

Qualification, Experience and Skills

Education and Training:

University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, management, sustainable development)
Formal training in project management.

Working Experience, Style and Skills:

At least 5 years of experience in operational management, project management, market development or sustainability management.
Ability to handle multiple workstreams/projects.
Extensive Project management experience.

Confidence with planning, overseeing, and reporting on project budgets.
Experience in analysis and reporting – solid presentation skills that convey complex topics to a diverse audience in clear and concise means.
International working experience and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders from different countries and cultures.
Intercultural competencies: strong interpersonal and communicating skills combined with a confident demeanour at various hierarchical levels.
Experience with strategic planning and governance is a plus.

The Mission

The Scope

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational support and contributing to the effective running of the FSC Europe operations.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

Provide financial and administrative support to FSC Europe, ensuring conformity with workplans and budget, and compliance with FSC standard operating procedures.
