A public consultation on the review report on general complaints and appeals procedures confirmed stakeholder support for their revision. The FSC International Board of Directors therefore approved including these procedures in the disputes handling revision.

The technical working group to lead this revision include the following individuals:

  • Fernanda Rodrigues, Individual, Brazil
  • Gerrit Marais, Individual, South Africa
  • Thomas Kerr, Individual, United States.

Overall, the goal of the revision is to ensure a more effective, streamlined and outcome-focused system. Once the revision ends, the new system will allow FSC to use a variety of mechanisms when handling disputes – especially the Policy for Association cases. It will increase efficiency and seek better targeted measures in disputes handling. The project builds on previous work carried out in 2015-2017 – but not yet completed – by a working group to revise the Policy for Association.

You can read more about the revision in the dedicated process pages.
