This policy sets out a commitment for everyone who is part of FSC: to uphold FSC’s core values by avoiding destructive activities anywhere you operate. It holds organizations involved in damaging social and environmental activities to account.
The Policy for Association is one of the key FSC policies that strengthen the protection of the forests and the communities living in them. FSC is now conducting a consultation on the revised policy.
Key proposals in the Policy for Association that we want to hear your feedback on include:
- An updated approach for defining who the Policy for Association applies to
- Changes and clarifications to the type of operations and sectors where unacceptable activities are prohibited
- Aligning with other FSC document development processes, such as the Policy on Conversion and Conversion Remedy Procedure and FSC core labour requirements.
We’re also looking for feedback on a new procedure for screening organizations joining the FSC system for compliance with the Policy for Association. The drafts have been created by a technical working group (read more about the process here), picking up the work of an unfinished revision process that ran from 2014 - 2017.
The FSC Policy for Association is an expression of the values shared by FSC members, certificate holders and stakeholders. Your feedback is invaluable in the development of this policy.
Sign up to the Consultative Forum mailing list here for updates on the Policy for Association revision. If you would like more information before filling out your responses, we are holding webinars that will go through the main proposals of this revision:
