[Bonn, Germany] - October 28, 2020 – Amazon launched the second phase of the Climate Pledge Friendly programme today in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK along with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and 18 other sustainability certifications.

Climate Pledge Friendly enables online shoppers to find and shop for more sustainable products. When shopping online, customers will now see the Climate Pledge Friendly label signifying products that have one or more of 19 different sustainability certifications that help protect the natural world.

FSC is the only certification system focusing exclusively on forest products that Amazon has selected to feature in the programme. Amazon evaluated hundreds of external sustainability certifications and chose organizations that certify products that have demonstrated sustainability benefits for the environment. FSC is proud to be one of the third-party entities certifying products within the Climate Pledge Friendly programme to increase customers’ awareness of more sustainable products.

"It’s great to be part of the programme expansion to Europe following the successful US launch”, said FSC International Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Harrison.

This initiative is helping consumers shop for FSC-certified products and thereby helping to keep forests healthy for future generations.

The FSC selection in the Climate Pledge Friendly programme currently includes furniture, paper products, stationary and household products, as well as items from a range of other categories from international brands.
