Who have already achieved FSC certification will decrease the costs of managing their forests responsibly.

The New Approaches to FSC Certification for Smallholders and Communities project is seeking expressions of interest from experienced managers of groups of private forest owners or communities who have already achieved FSC certification and are interested in participating in a 12-month pilot to implement a new type of group model that aims to cut the costs and complexity of FSC certification. This model foresees that the forestry contractor would share responsibility for ensuring the certified forests are in conformance with the group standard, FSC-STD-30-005 FSC standard for group entities in forest management groups. Requirements for participating in a pilot test are included in the ‘call for expression of interest – pilot testing Type III group model.

This work is led by the New Approaches to FSC Certification for Smallholders and Communities (New Approaches project).
