The FSC standard for forest management groups (FSC-STD-30-005) is currently being revised. The technical working group in charge of the revision had two in-person meetings before finalizing the first draft. Now this document is ready for a public consultation from 08 November 2019 until 10 January 2020.
The essence of the current group standard, and the flexibility it allows for, has been maintained and clarified. Additionally, the standard now includes the following key changes:
the scope has been modified to include controlled wood groups as well;
forestry contractors can now be included in the groups;
the sampling methodology for the group internal monitoring has been revised.
The structure of the standard has also been revised, to make the content flow more logically, and include section titles reflecting the content.
FSC asks all stakeholders interested in the group standard to provide comments for this first consultation round. Stakeholder feedback is crucial to refine the draft and produce a final standard addressing stakeholders´ concerns. Please access the FSC consultation platform, available in English and Spanish, to provide your feedback.
