FSC I&P and CapMan Natural Capital partner to advance biodiversity impact measurement in European forests

FSC Investments & Partnerships (FSC I&P) and CapMan Natural Capital, a leading forest investment manager, are announcing a strategic collaboration to explore the application of FSC Verified Impact across forest investment portfolios in developed European markets. Implementation is expected to start in Finland in 2026 with forest investments to be certified under FSC certification and Verified Impact, followed by other key European forestry regions such as Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the Baltics in 2027. 

The initiative reflects growing investor demand for credible, measurable environmental and social outcomes alongside financial performance. By leveraging FSC Verified Impact – which verifies measurable positive outcomes from FSC-certified forests – CapMan Natural Capital aims to further strengthen its ability to demonstrate how sustainable forest management can contribute to biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and social benefits while strengthening the enduring value of its forest investment portfolio. 

“We were among the first in Europe to certify our forests for sustainable management, and that decision moved the market. FSC Verified Impact is the next step, turning biodiversity outcomes into evidence investors can actually use,” said Ivan Gjoshevski, Sustainability Value Creation Director from CapMan. 

As one of Europe's leading forest investment managers, CapMan Natural Capital manages investments across developed forestry markets, totaling 235,000 hectares, where sustainable management practices are increasingly viewed as driving resilience and portfolio performance. As part of this joint work, FSC I&P, CapMan Natural Capital, and FSC offices in Europe will build capacity, share knowledge, and develop investor-facing insights that illustrate how verified forest impacts can inform investment strategies and help preserve and enhance asset value over time.

The initiative will focus on supporting CapMan Natural Capital’s readiness to work toward the attainment of FSC Verified Impact through engagement with FSC Finland, FSC Sweden, and other relevant FSC offices in Europe. It will also generate practical insights for the sustainable finance community on the role that verified forest impacts can play in responsible investment and natural capital strategies.
