Mobilizing the private sector to advance responsible sourcing in Peru

More than 80 representatives from over 50 companies and organizations participated in the first FSC Peru Gathering, creating a platform to advance responsible sourcing and traceability as strategic priorities in response to growing market expectations, consumer demand and international regulatory requirements. 
 
The event brought together business leaders and sustainability experts to exchange experiences on integrating sustainability into value chains and improving transparency in the origin of forest-based products. In this context, FSC Peru highlighted the role of FSC certification and FSC Ecosystem Services as practical solutions that help organizations verify and communicate positive impacts on biodiversity, carbon, water, and other ecosystem benefits that forests provide to people and the planet. 

A key outcome of the event was the creation of a collaborative space where companies from different sectors shared best practices on traceability, responsible sourcing and the use of FSC trademarks to strengthen trust among consumers and stakeholders through communications backed by internationally recognized standards. 
 
As part of the event, FSC Peru recognized ten companies and organizations for their leadership in implementing responsible practices that contribute to forest conservation and sustainable development, reinforcing the private sector’s role as a key partner in advancing more sustainable supply chains. 
 
Through this initiative, FSC Peru continues to strengthen its role as a convener, bringing together businesses and strategic stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of responsible forest management solutions and foster more transparent, resilient, and sustainable value chains across the country.
