The study implements Motion 61 approved by the membership during the last FSC General Assembly.

During the 2017 FSC General Assembly, international FSC members mandated the FSC Secretariat to conduct an evaluation of threats to the FSC assurance system and to search for solutions to address these threats.

FSC has engaged independent consultants, Mike Read Associates, to conduct the study. The study will include inputs from various stakeholder groups, such as Assurance Services International, certification bodies, FSC members and the FSC Secretariat. It will also include an analysis of prior evaluations of the integrity of other certification schemes’ assurance systems.

The results are planned to be presented to the FSC Board of Directors in early 2020.
